Battery Lead Wiring

Supply list needed

  1. 5/16 socket
  2. socket wrench
  3. torque wrench
  4. grasshopper nuts (10-32) — do not reuse
  5. 4 AWG battery leads

Assembly steps

  1. Place the ring terminal of the battery lead onto the inner side of the battery terminal
  2. Thread a Grasshopper Nut (10-32) onto the lug over the ring terminal, clocked to open air (away from the plastic lip)
  3. SET TORQUE WRENCH TO 70 INCH POUNDS (7.91 N·m)
  4. Put the 5/16 socket on the torque wrench
  5. Tighten the Grasshopper Nut until the torque wrench clicks
  6. Test with battery beak
  7. Apply Scotch 2228 mastic tape to any exposed metal
